Other Tools You Can Use to Administer the FrontPage Server Extensions

The FrontPage MMC snap-in is a program with a graphical interface that you can use to easily administer the FrontPage Server Extensions. It replaces and significantly improves upon the Fpsrvwin utility, which was an administrative program with a graphical interface that was included with previous versions of FrontPage. However, the FrontPage MMC snap-in runs only on Windows operating systems, and you cannot use it to administer the server extensions from a  .

But the FrontPage MMC snap-in is only one of several tools available for administering the FrontPage Server Extensions. Three other tools, while providing almost the same functionality as the FrontPage MMC snap-in, can operate in environments where the snap-in can't:

If the FrontPage Server Extensions are installed on your computer, you can also access the FrontPage Server Extensions Resource Kit, which is by default installed at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\Serk\nnnn\default.htm. The \nnnn folder has a numerical name based on the language in which you installed the FrontPage Server Extensions. For example, in a US English installation, the path is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\Serk\1033\default.htm.
